Has anyone purchased one of these off etsy ?

The Chipolo Card Spot is 2.4mm thick (much thinner than this) and considerably cheaper - only downside is it doesn't have precision finding (or a replaceable battery) - but, I figure you get close enough with bluetooth, you can then play the sound on the Chipolo to identify who in front of you has your wallet. :)

To build off of fischersd, The Chipolo is rated for 2 years battery (possibly could get longer) then you pay half for the replacement and send the old one. Still is more pricy than just replacing a simple small battery yourself, but thinner and visually pleasing. One thing to note too is how the sound is on the Etsy one if you even possibly plan on using the audible alert).

I did see the Chipolo one -- but it doesnt have the precision finding via ultrawideband. I currently have the Tile wallet card. I will have to check on the reviews for it.

Thank you both for you replies. I will need to look into this further. :)

The Etsy one appears to just be an actual Apple AirTag that they've done the break-apart to - so the loudness should be marginally better than the original AirTag as it's no longer in that housing - originally they're 60dB, but the cardspot is 108dB - so, considerably greater range to find your missing item. (hmm...hope the wallet isn't anywhere that gets moisture - the IPX rating of the AirTag will not carry over to the Etsy FrankenTag - the circuit board is exposed).

I've only had my cardspot for a few days now, seems to perform about as well as the AirTag in terms of updates. (we have 10 of the AirTags between my wife and I).

I only mentioned the loudness just because it would be in a different casing, like you mentioned the airtag is rated at 60dB in the offical airtag casing, and I imagine it wouldn't be much different in a different housing especially one that is really thin, but yeah the cardspot is much louder which could potentially make up for like of UWB

Yeah i guess it being that loud i dont really need precision tracking lol -- Does your cardspot take a while to get noticed when trying to find it ? My Tile takes a few to be picked up. I assume no because its using Find My...

I haven't yet done a test to see how loud it is in real life, but I assume it's likely easier to use than UWB. :) (in my own experience, using UWB to find my vehicle in the parking garage wasn't super useful) :) Edit: Likely only be useful to find the remote for your AppleTV. :)

I've had an AirTag and the cardspot travelling together and they were both getting the same updates on Apple's FindMy network - so, it isn't like Apple's treating them like a second-class citizen or anything. :)
