Anker brand Eufy has launched a new Apple Home-compatible 4K indoor pan-and-tilt camera, bettering its 2K offering launched back in 2020.

eufy-4k-indoor-camera.jpg

The Eufy Indoor Cam E30 features a 4K resolution for crisp, sharp video, and it is compatible with HomeKit. However, since Apple's Home app only supports the viewing of streams up to 1080p, users will need to use the official Eufy app to see the inside of their property in all its 4K glory.

The E30 connects via the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band, and the PTZ camera provides a 360-degree view in the horizontal plane, as well as controls within the Eufy app to manually adjust the angle. The camera can also be fixed to ceilings with a mounting plate (included).

The E30 also includes a built-in spotlight enabling standard night vision and color night vision. Users have the option to install an SD card for local on-device recording, minus the associated monthly fees incurred by cloud-based recording plans, but Eufy does still offer a cloud-based option.

As HomeKitNews notes, Eufy has not provided information on whether the Indoor Cam E30 supports HomeKit Secure Video, so buyer beware. But given that most other Eufy models support it, there is a good chance this one does, too.

HomeKit Secure Video is encrypted and stored in iCloud and footage is viewed in the Home app. All detection is also done on-device for privacy purposes, with no data sent to Eufy. This would likely be the preferable option for users who remember Eufy's camera security controversy.

Thanks to improvements in AI, Eufy says that the camera can now distinguish between humans and pets, as well as different types of audio, making it better able to detect, identify, and track movement. The camera also has an integrated speaker, suggesting this model supports two-way audio like other Eufy models.

The Eufy Indoor Cam E30 is available directly from the Eufy website costing $69.99, and the company is currently running a $10 promotional discount using the code WSPEV2ASHVSZ.

Eufy Launches 4K E30 Indoor Camera “With HomeKit Support”

Eufy has “not” provided information on whether the Indoor Cam E30 supports HomeKit Secure Video

So which one is it? Does it or does it not support HomeKit (Secure Video)?

Unless “HomeKit” and “HomeKit Secure Video” are two different things in THIS case.

Make it more obvious MacRumors that this is a paid/sponsored/incentivized post, if it is?

Uhhhhhh, most of the latest EufyCams DO NOT support HomeKit let alone HomeKit secure video, as Eufy looks like they are waiting for Matter to support security camera. (Aka they are being lazy on development)

So chances are it might not support HomeKit secure video at all.

Aside from Anker/Eufy’s other big issues, there’s a few points not in this model’s favor

• it does not state if it has 2 way audio, so I will assume it doesn’t
• it does not state if it can be connected via wired Ethernet, so I will assume it doesn’t
• it does not state if it acts as a hub for any other home connectivity standards (zigbee) so I will assume it doesn’t
• it does not state if it can be used as a programmable IR blaster, so I will assume it doesn’t

The Aqara g3 does all of these things (with the exception of the wired Ethernet connection) uses HomeKit secure video, and has Pan/tilt and a higher resolution sensor than HomeKit can show anyway. I see no compelling argument in favor of the Eufy camera, which would probably sprout legs and spy on me in the shower if it could.

Won't trust Eufy or parent company Anker again after that "controversy". They lied about it, and attempted to cover it up.

Unforgivable.
I believe this "controversy" is why they stop making HSV cameras and this camera most liekly doesn't support it. Also, it was't controversty it is how HSV works, it has to place the still image on the internet for it get pushed to your phone.

All of their cameras that use their home hub do - which is pretty much every single camera I can find on their site.

I know it’s 2024-2025, but I am still not comfortable with cloud storage/access for home cameras, especially anything indoors. My cameras record to my NAS and they are on a separate VLAN with no access to internet. No “calling the mothership” from my home.
I agree - except with the proliferation of cameras I have not been able to decide what cameras to go with. What make/model has been working for you? I have a Synology NAS, and would prefer WiFi connections. Thanks!

Yes, it was controversy. They lied, you could reach the video through Eufy's servers completely unencrypted. No idea how this has trickled down to you as it being a screen shot that was really Apple's fault...they also still claim HSV on their latest cameras.

So disappointing that HomeKit doesn’t support the camera’s ability to pan/swivel 360 degrees.

I have a few Amcrest wifi cameras and I believe most of their current models support ONVIF, RTSP, etc. which should work with whatever surveillance software you run on your NAS. They also offer the cloud-based services, but the cameras with those protocols should also work without cloud access.

Enjoy reading about the product/offer... Then RUN in the opposite direction. Eufy is not a brand anyone who cares even slightly about their privacy should be buying.
All my EUFY cameras point OUTSIDE. I'm happy with their performance considering the cost and they've been rock-solid for many years. The fact they are also HomeKit compatible is a bonus.

If you run around your house naked, you shouldn't have ANY cameras inside if you are that sensitive to privacy.

Only 2.4 GHz? Who lives in a primitive world like that? It's like a smart thermostat from 2006.
Because it has the largest range and the data usage these cameras use is tiny, but if you want 5ghz as well then the higher end Eufy S350 indoor does have 5Ghz which I use and it works great.

But as I've said multiple times, Apple needs to get with the times and up the resolution to 4K, as usual they are falling behind.

I've been using the previous Eufy Pan & Tilt with HKSV and it has been rock-solid. I'm clinging to a router that has HomeKit router on it, which does not allow the camera to 'call home' or connect to the internet outside of HomeKit (can't even access the camera via the Eufy app).

Sounds interesting but to be honest, for me, HomeKit is far less reliable than the Eufy App. Many times HomeKit can't connect to the cameras yet the EUFY app connects just fine or HomeKit notifications the camera is Offline, yet the Eufy app shows it's working fine.

I can't speak for the Eufy app - can't use it with HKRouter enabled. With that said, my primary goal is HKSV - knowingly sacrificing higher resolution to have all my recordings in one, secure place.

Given that Eufy's version of HomeKit support doesn't support pan/tilt in HomeKit, only the Eufy app, it's pretty bogus.

TP-Link Tapo cameras are cheap and compatible with both RTSP and ONVIF. The initial setup is done via the Tapo app to activate these protocols, you may need to disable firmware auto update TP link is known for removing already established features. These aren’t HomeKit compatible but If you're using Home Assistant on your Synology NAS, you can incorporate both HomeKit and Tapo support. On your router you need both WAN and WireGuard firewall rules set up for the cameras so they don’t phone home.

That isn't an Eufy thing. There are no other cameras that can do this either, since HomeKit itself doesn't support pan/tilt.
