Apple parrots that space is saved. The space saved in few MBs will be used by devs to add more bloat to the app and eventually we'd be back to square one.

It also stops iTunes App syncing.

Just look at Facebook App. It started with 10 MB few years back and now it's a whopping 90 MB.
Eg. If Facebook thins it's app to say 60 MB, within 2 years it would be back to 90 MB. But 16 GB devices will still be 16 GB.

The writing is on the wall. App Sync is another marketing term Apple has used to market their shameful 16 GB devices to unsuspecting buyers. Practically it is useless.

The Facebook app used to be almost nothing more than a wrapper around the mobile website. That's why it was so small. You might also recall how ridiculously slow it was.

Like mentioned due to iCloud syncing issues app thinning has not been implemented.

Nothing has changed as of this point.

Can you back this up with more than just bold text, perhaps?

This post reflects poorly on the poster and I would suggest that they read what they wrote, carefully consider what they are saying and delete the post.
