being assembled

yup...same over here in london..all i can see is being assembled...how in the world did you see all that KN stuff? did you get it off the KN website or something?

Once it's shipped, they give you a tracking link.

FWIW, I ordered my iPod the second day; it shipped on the second of May, with an initial ETA of the 6th. This kept slipping, until when I checked it this morning it estimated the 9th, having just passed through a second transit hub.

However, I got it about an hour ago. Go figure.

Very nice; not 100% convinced by the solid-state scroll wheel yet, but this is a *lot* smaller than the original 5 gig unit. very slight LCD screen colouration at the top, nothing to complain about. Love it.

I got the 15 gigger, through the Apple edu store, in the UK.

Mine says it is out for delivery and i should get it on the 8th which is tomorrow.

BTW, do you NEED the 2.5 update in order for the ipod to work properly or will it work fine on 2.1?

They should be here soon:

iPods in London

They already have them in Micro Anvika on Tottenham Court Road, London.

I have had my first issue with the iPod.

I took it to work this morning and when i got their i realised the iPod wouldn't turn on. I had turned it off the night before when i went to bed. I wouldn't turn when i got back and charged it again! Talk about feeling bad, i just spent £300 on this and it doesn't work, i havn't even banged it. Anyway i read the manual and it said to reboot it, thankfully it worked but it was scary.

Anybody know why it did that? I had charged it last night and i don't think i have a faulty battery but it has been charging for the past 3 hours so maybe i left it on or something but it was inside its case when i put it down.

Anybody got its specs with regard to standby time rather than actual playing time.

We need to keep this thread at the top...
so new info: the iPod wont be available before next week in retail stores here in Denmark.... :(

:( exactly.

someone's still 'assembling' mine :( .

ah well.... its the weekend :p

(still gonna miss sitting in the sun listening to tunes!)

My "old" 20gb iPod froze a few times during the first month I had it, but hasn't frozen once in the last 4 months or so. It might just be a 'breaking in" period. I've read of similar experiences in the Apple forums. Nothing to really worry about. (But I remember the feeling of my heart stopping the first time my iPod froze.)

Called Apple

I called Apple yesterday afternoon to find out what was going on. I was told that my iPod is scheduled to ship between the 8th (yesterday) and the 12th (monday) and will take between 3-5 days to arrive once shipped. So it will arrive within the timeframe int he confirmation email, but not within the timeframe that Steve announced.

The issue i had with the iPod is nothing now and it works fine, i did format it by accident and nothing worked but i used the system restore feature and everything is okay.

The only problem is the iPod doesn't tell me when it is fully charged.

I finally ordered my first iPod yesterday! :D
And for the moment its "Being Assembled"...
It will take 8 to 10 days before I get it :( ... will be long days...

oh man..mine still hasn't even shipped yet..if not for the student discount i would cancel my order and run over to micro anvika right away! :)

No sign of these babies in France yet.

Went to a FNAC store in Paris yesterday and asked the guy when they would be in. There wasn't even an availability date in the system so he said it could be up to 3 weeks... :(

One online store, busiboutique, is giving a tentative date of 23 May,

I've waited so long already I can hang on a little longer.

Just for info, my local Robert Sayles (UK) had them on the 9th, I bought one today... haven't had a chance to play with it yet though
