It's almost that most entertaining/comical time of year again where we all get to marvel at the nonsense each of our nations elects to represent our stupendous musical talents...or perhaps I'm over selling it a little :D :p

Anyway, Saturday 24th May, be there, and be here commenting on it

*toddles off to find out what mind bogglingly awful entry the UK has chosen this year*

oh joy, X-Factor reject Andy Abraham.

Oh God... lol

It's the one Saturday of the whole year I don't particularly look forward too.

The only thing that makes Eurovision good is Terry Wogan... perving all over the attractive girls that introduce all the songs..... oh dear.

Yay! Doesn't seem like two minutes since last year's. :p We have Andy Abraham, he's not bad but it's not a really exciting performance.

I want Ireland's Dusty the Turkey to win!! Best entry ever. :D

I actually kind of look forward to Eurovision – we have a few beers and a bit of a giggle, and there's usually an entertaining Eurovision thread here on MacRumors so we can all compare notes. :D

I'll be missing it this year unfortunately as I'll be on a coach back from London. Never mind. ;)

Not that there's any justice in Eurovision anymore thanks to the inclusion of the former eastern block, but if there was... Sébastien Tellier should win.

There's me in ignorant bliss thinking that Bill Bailey might have actually followed through with his plan.

I have to thank you Sir!!

I followed the BB link, which in turn lead to "The Best Cockney Rock Album Ever" which allowed me to hear the master piece that was a Cockney version of "Bela Lugosi's Dead".

:D

I might watch Eurovision this year.

Or I might burn my face off with an uncooled G5, insert an EyeTV into one of the many newly formed burn holes in my head, instantly absorb yesterdays, todays and tomorrows TV and run into the pub screaming "TERRY WOGAN IS MY IMMACULATE MOTHER".

I haven't. I live in the states, and it seems just like the MTV music awards, which Im not a big fan of.
Oh, it's nothing like the MTV Awards. It's not even an awards show.

EU states nominate an act to perform on their behalf in the Eurovision Song Contest. On the night each country performs their song, then phone votes are taken in each country. At the end of the night each country announces how many points each song got measured from the amount of calls they received. Then all votes from all countries are tallied up to find the winner.

Sounds like it could be good...if everything entered didn't suck so much!

Wow.

That sounds like an epic fail, even compared to the sub-par MTV Awards.

The only decent thing about the Eurovision song contest is the witty remarks by Sir Terry Wogan .... The rest really is crap ..

Me not liking that show would be putting it 'mildly'. Good thing i rarely watch TV these days.

I'd rather watch/play the Euromillions draw. Although me not winning would also be depressing. Sigh...lose lose situation.

One show scars my hearing for life, the other reminds me that my next mac will probably be a refurb

Deep down, you wish that Finland will win. Few reasons:

a) The band actually sings in Finnish, as opposed to singing in English

b) The band plays power/hero-metal, not some crappy pop.

c) You can't go wrong with those lyrics! "Where men ride, sheep can't roam".

Search your feelings and you know this to be true!

Thank God Austria does not participate (or is not allowed to). So there isn't even the slightest reason for me to watch it :D

Ah, but you miss out on a key part of being an EU citizen :p

Besides, we all miss out on seeing some Austrians! ;) :D :p
