I know the ATV3 has some hardware blocks in place to prevent delivery of some code to it (even when iOS 5 had been jailbroken, you could not jailbreak ATV3 running iOS 5). However, I hope that this jailbreak applies to ATV2. I would very much like to upgrade my Apple TV 2 units to iOS 6 and still be able to run XBMC.
According to the blog 2 days ago, it could handle aTV2.

Reading through the errors thread, it looks like the jailbreak broke the native weather app for everyone. Who cares :D

It still works for me!

EDIT:
Nevermind, after a reboot, it just crashes now. But, like you said, who cares! I was going to hide the default Weather app anyway! :D

So you just like voiding your warranty (it does, even if you lie about it and tell Apple you never did), and violating your contract with AT&T (and basically laughing at all of the people who pay the legitimate tethering fee by stealing it yourself instead)?

I'd say just get some free apps and be cool with it! Sounds like you're ok with everything else (even if you rationalize it)....

:apple:

Well paying for tethering is only encouraging that kind of greedy behavior if I pay 30 dollars a month for only 3GB of data why the hell does it matter what device I use it with?

As for the warrenty, it's not against the law to void a warrenty. I don't know anyone that finds software modification from interfering with hardware issues/replacements anyway.

I don't get why people see jail breaking as such a bad thing the only reason I think it's "bad" is because it slows down my phone.

Cydia is slowly starting to come back.

I have a question: supposedly, some tweaks, like Auxo, cost money. But, Cydia doesn't say "1.99", it just says "install" and then error messages tell me that the app is paid and I didn't pay for it. how do I pay?

I'm willing to give the 1.99. 95% of the reason I downloaded/installed the jailbreak was for Auxo. Other 5% was for f.lux.

I read that because Cydia's servers are overloaded, some of the payment prompts won't load. So just wait it out a bit where you see that.

I use f.lux on my MBP and iMac - love it. Had no idea it was available for iOS.

f.lux is one of my favorite apps. Really makes long computing sessions easy at night.

can't wait to use it on my iPhone. pretty sure it's free on Cydia (once Cydia comes back)

Thanks, I'll wait a couple hours.

Got stuck on the first reboot, did the hard reset (hold power and home button until Apple logo appears) and rebooted. Hope this helps and thanks for the member that suggested this fix. :)

Although many apps won't install:

NetDB: Open nodename nor servername provided, or not known.

anyone else's weather app not working? running an iPhone 5, iOS 6.1, on AT&T.

Just checked and it starts then crashed immediately. Many, many JB's have had minor issues ranging from VPN to BT to battery drain. Personally, I can live w/o the weather app working, but don't be surprised if we see a revised version of this JB tool soon to squash this bug.

I don't like voiding my warranty, but I'm willing to for the improved functionality.
But you're right that I'll rationalize not paying AT&T an extra $20 per month for something that I already pay $100 per month. I pay for my data connection on my iPhone. Being able to use that data connection to DL email on my iPad via a tether is A-ok by me.
You're wrong in your rude assumption that I laugh at anyone about it.

You can call it whatever you want, but there are hard working people in the world that don't violate thier contract and steal tethering. By you choosing to steal it without reservation, the implication is that the people who ARE choosing to do the right thing and abide their agreement are somehow suckers for doing so.

I wonder how many people admit to Apple they have violated their warranty when they have an issue (related or not) and they need warranty work?

I guess that's ok to steal that too?

Look, I really don't care what anyone does with their life if they don't matter to me. The world is full of hypocrites, liars, and people who steal. Whatever floats your boat...

"steal" tethering...

Please.

I get it for free in Canada. It's very well known how much our US neighbours get gouged for something that ought to be free.

The real hypocrites are those who like to get up on their self-righteous horse and defend the scumbag practices of these telecoms in order to pretend they're morally superior beings.

I'm not stealing anything. Just because there's some arcane rule that jailbreaking voids your warranty doesn't mean we don't deserve warranty care.

If there's a physical issue with my device, I fully expect Apple to help. On the other hand, with my jailbreak, I'm not doing anything illegal. Just some tweaks that I'll pay for. I still pay for all my apps and I don't tether.

The point is that you're equating jailbreaking with stealing in regards to warranty work, and that's just ridiculous. We all paid hundred of dollars for our phones.

General rule of thumb for me:

If I'm paying for "5GB of data", I should be able to use that 5GB *ANY WAY THAT I WANT*. I bought it. That's the end of the discussion.

Tethering should be included.

Maybe try restoring your phone and then trying the JB again.

me in apple store: im having issues with my phone....its jailbroken though
genius: no worries, mine is too. lets see if i can run diagnostics, if not, just restore and come back...

they could care less lol. i have even had a jb phone replaced on the spot without needing to restore it. the notion of it voiding the warranty is false

guys, im new to ios, coming from android.

i was wondering, since i void my warranty when jailbreaking and

i am going to probably sell the device before the warranty would have expired,

if jailbroken devices are sold more easily, harder (or with discount)?

ive been under the impression that at least with android you can sell rooted devices with a premium.
