Hello there

I am thinking about going deeper in the Apple Golden Jail and looking for a device to show and record temperature & humidity and why not other metrics such as air quality.

Which brands would you recommend?

Any issues to be aware about these devices?

I bought "Eve Room Indicator Air Quality Monitor" and got 10% off with my EPP. I'll receive it tomorrow.

It’d be nice if there were some outdoor weather stations too, but I haven’t seen any. Good luck with the indoor ones, I’m looking forward to the answers as well

So I just received it. It’s charging. It needs a day to capture AQ data.

The setup is extremely easy: you download the app, it recognizes the device & pair it. Then you scan the QR code and it’s done. It took like 2 min.

I’ll see in a few days how data points are captured.

So I turned on the A/C and put it at 26℃ and after 20 min the temperature dropped in the living room to 27℃. It was then too cold so I turned the A/C off. We can see that it changed the temperature and the humidity.

I have also massive drop in AQ. I suspect that because of the drop in temperatures, particules are stuck on the floor. When the temperature is increasing it is hot air so it may evaporate particules everywhere. Does it make sense?

Or maybe I live in a very polluted area and the sensor was just still adapting to the environment? I'll leave it on a few days to see if there are some patterns.

In any case, I'm kind of having a lot of fun with this new toy. :)

. :)

Hmmm, -10 C here right now, so I envy the need for A/C. ;)

I do like the looks of that.

So I am at the office and the sensor is "not responding". Does that mean it works only when I am home? I thought with wifi I could have access to the data while I am away. Am I missing something here?

EDIT: it is ok, I killed the app and launched it again. Still working nice.

I played with it a bit again yesterday: turned on the A/C then put some "Glade Scented Gel" and turned it off as it was smelling too much. The chart went from 83 ppb to 438 ppb in only 2 hours!! I hope I am not going to have cancer.

The latest update brought a dark theme. Still happy about this gadget, expensive though.
