So as many of you know, I've been graced with getting a LOT of free macs and various parts and components over the last year. This week, I'm getting a G4 Cube fan and several mystery items from a fellow forum member (thanks once again to that member, truly a good guy). Also, hopefully this Thursday, I will be getting two more machines for my vast collection. This time, I'm getting a pair of G3s, specifically a Beige G3 with ZIP and floppy drives and a USB/Parallel card, and a like-new mint condition iBook G3 with the original charger! I'm extremely excited to get these two G3s, especially if the iBook turns out to be a Clamshell. Even if it isn't, I'd still be thrilled since it's in near-mint condition. Lastly, there will be a LaserWriter in that haul as well. Eventually, I may get another 8500 to replace my broken one (bad PSU) and possibly a 9600, all for free from the same friend of mine!

Sorry to rub it into anyone's face if it came across as such, but I just like to tell about all of my new and noteworthy macs that I add into my collection :D

Well today is definitely the day, really looking forward to seeing what G3s they are, as well as what else I might get :)

Girlfriends oh my god. Don't get me started ;)

In my truck project world I get to blow $300+ on just two batteries for the truck I'm building. The batteries alone cost more than every cent I've put into the G5 Quad :O Just goes to show you how PPC macs are cheap!

I don't have a girlfriend either, but have a car that might as well be.

$500 bucks Tuesday for tires, and another $80 today for clutch hydraulics. Last week it was $250 for a new exhaust. With the exception of the tires(which I'm not capable of installing myself) all other numbers are just parts costs. Next week, I'm driving a couple of hours to buy a set of wheels, front hubs, and a rear axle for $200.

That money would buy a lot of PPC Macs :) . Heck, I could probably get my two most wanted Macs-a TAM and a 128K-for that.

Here's the rundown! Yesterday, I got a PowerMac G3 Beige desktop (266MHz Rev A) with a ZIP drive, 4GB Quantum FireBall HDD, Floppy Drive, and CD-ROM. Second is another Power Macintosh 8500 with an 800MHz Sonnet G4, ZIP drive, Floppy, 2GB Seagate Hawk HDD, and CD-ROM. Third is a 600MHz Snow iBook G3 with 356MB of RAM, 20GB HDD, Dual USB, and a Combo drive. The machine is in near mint condition, which is awesome. Fourth item is a LaserWriter Select 360. Fifth/sixth is SCSI ZIP and CD-ROM drives. Lastly, got some hard drives and a flatbed scanner. Today, hopefully, I can test all of these machines and try to make a LocalTalk network between several machines. Also, my mystery package should be coming today, so that should be fun as well!

Here are some pictures of my new iBook, as well as some comparison shots with my G4 iBook.

Here are some System Profiler/About this Mac shots:

I intend to get OS 9 back on the iBook, and get both the 8500 and G3 on Tiger. Also, in the mystery box was a PCI Rage 128 that's sitting happily in my G3, some spare RAM, an AirPort card that I stuck in my iBook, and a fan for my Cube. Also today, I got the LaserWriter 360 working and it's pretty great for these older beige boxes, including my 512ke. Takes a few minutes to fully start up, but it finishes printing in no time at all. Only complaint is that it prints a status page every single time I turn it on, wasting ink and paper. Other than that, I really like it!

the g3 looks good. pretty good condition.
It's in amazing condition. It has scratching (to be expected), but unless I'm specifically looking for them, it's hard to notice. Really got lucky with how nice it is.

Also, there may be EVEN EVEN MORE stuff on the way according to the guy I get this stuff from. He's basically gone to a full scale purge to clear out (his wife is urging him to, lol) all of his macs that are sitting around collecting dust, which makes for a happy Gamer9430 :D
