Only slightly off topic, but I recently learned that stranger things season 3 was filmed in my local, now-abandoned mall.

On topic, I do have memories of accidentally getting on the elevator without my family and having to wait for it to come back (I was probably 8 or 9 so I while was only “trapped” for 30 sec it felt like longer). Also I’m sure that I saw at least 1 kid get their shoelaces caught in the escalator
There's an awful lot of shows filmed around this portion of the state and sometimes I can figure out where it is within a second or two. Or if it's places I've been in other states and remember well enough.

About a year ago or more I read an article on Russians invading the south to poach fish of some kind and I recognized a tackle and bait shop I'd been to twice a long time ago when I briefly lived in the south. Granted it was decrepit back then.

At least elevator handrails travel at the same speed as the rest of the elevator. If you keep hold of an escalator's handrail you'll gradually tip over, since most of them travels at a slightly faster speed, apparently due to belt slippage or material that stretches over time due to wear and tear.
