In order to keep track of my posts to MacRumors I clip my posts into Evernote. That way I can easily monitor my posts chronologically and can search posts that I've responded to for specific words and phrases in MacRumors and across websites.

This worked perfectly until recently, where recently is X (unknown) months. Now when I do a clipping from MacRumors it takes almost 3 minutes for the Evernote Web Clipper to go from "Saving" to the point where it is actually uploading the clip. Contacted their support, and they had me try out some other sites. No problems there, it just happens on MacRumors.

Wondering why it is so slow on MacRumors ...

I'm on an iMac Pro 11.6.2 Evernote 10.27.5 and Web Clipper 7.18

Is this a browser extension? If so, which browser?

Yes. Worst on Safari 15.2. Not so bad in Firefox or Chrome. In running tests over the last 24 hours got various inconsistent results. At one point during the day the extension worked as it should for the first time in months. Don't know if time of day has something to do with it. Have mostly observed in late evening (U.S. Pacific) early morning hours.

Tried just now and it again was slow, maybe a minute, but not 3 minutes slow.

Honestly, I would switch to Joplin. It is cheaper than EN overall and has better community support. Also OneNote is pretty good, but with enough of a different GUI that there's a small learning curve. I gave up EN when they locked my out of my account and wouldn't help me reset it. I wish I'd know about Joplin sooner.

I'm testing the Evernote Web Clipper and it's very unresponsive on any site I try. Many reviews in the App Store talk about how recent updates breaks functionality. .

Could you share the URLS of some of those sites? The only site I have problems with is MacRumors. As Evernote support (which I have found to be excellent) found the same problem they deemed it a MacRumors problem. If I can give them some more sites to check that might help isolate the issue.

Just to clairify, the issue is when the Web Clipper is working but takes a long time to save (spinning circle). There is another, separate issue, where the clipper stops responding entirely, or isn't available. In the latter case I can always just toggle the extension on/off, or reinstall, and it starts working again.

The issue I'm trying to resolve is just when it is doing a save, completes it, but takes minutes of the spinning wheel before it completes.

I really hate that Safari can be pain in the butt sometimes.
Like I want to use Safari because it is obviously the fastest browser for macOS, but it always has to act up. Before, when I was using Android/Microsoft&Linux, I always thought Apple has it all figured out with their Software. But glad to know that I was wrong. Nothing is perfect ?‍♂️

I've tested again but have disabled all of my other extensions. The other sites work fine but more often then not, the web clipper will be slow to respond on our Forums. On the main page, MacRumors.com, it's fine. Our forums run on XenForo, I went and tested on Anandtech's forums, also using XenForo (I made sure to log into my account, not sure if that changes things) and had similar issues.

I'm not sure if you have an account there. If you do, could you test it?

Tested on Anandtech and it was slow there as well. Do you think it is a XenForo issue? Dunno if there is a way I can work the issue with them.

I have been having the same problem trying to save my portfolio on the Fidelity.com website.

Sorry for delay. I've looked around the Xenforo.com forums and couldn't find any mention of the issue. I've also checked out Evernote's website and unfortunately they don't offer a contact for technical issues.
