Every time I open Chess...!

Except sometimes when it's the first thing I do after rebooting, I get this or similar. What could the problem/solution be?

do you have the orignal discs?

I'm thinking that you should run an apple hardware test to check.

Does the itunes visauliser also go wrong?

i have original disks if need be, the visualizer works fine. although I just tried repairing permissions etc in disk utility and got this. ...How do I repair the disk though?
