I had a little fun with the title, and the Pun is somewhat intended. I have about 40gb of really personal content (i.e. porn) on my iPP that I moved from my Samsung tab.

Problem: Everyone who sees or knows that I got a new iPP 9.7 wants to touch it, play with it, and basically try it out. But I don't want them to see all my personal content. I can go into iTunes and remove those folders, and then re-sync later, but these requests have been random and ongoing since the launch. It seems rude to say "Why not go to the Apple Store and try one there?"

Two questions: How do you treat others who want to go through your iPP - do you allow it or is it your private world?

If you do allow it, how do you treat sensitive content?

If you want to lock them into a single app (like Safari, or a game) you could use Guided Access mode.

That stops them rampaging all over the place. You can even set a time limit

Just put it in a video app that's a few pages back in a folder. This isn't a complicated issue. And I don't understand people being so intrigued by an iPad in 2016.

I know right? Why even test drive a car these days. They've had 4 wheels and an engine for almost 100 years. Just a waste of time. That stupid Car and Driver magazine! They even write reviews and post pictures. Complete waste of time. I hear ya. I don't test drive. Just pull down a loan app and have me drive it up to the finance office.

Didn't read the whole thread so if this was suggested already I apologize. But have you tried an alternative video player for your collection? It's a travesty that you're still using iTunes when there are much better players in the App Store. Infuse for example is awesome and allows for password protection and Touch ID of the app. You can keep your videos on iTunes in your computer but sync to infuse instead

Yeah, it has its own folder setup within the app. I've saved about 10GB in there of videos/TV shows before. I'm not sure about password protecting the app though?
You can password protect the app on load and use Touch ID as well. Easy to configure in the app's settings. The problem is that there's no easy way to get large chunks of files into "My Files" in Filebrowser without having to use iTunes file transfer which doesn't even allow nested folders. Not sure if there's a workaround.

Not really the same thing. I agree with what he's saying. In fact, it was my first thought when I entered this thread. I haven't seen anyone be all, "wow! Is that an iPad? Can I see it?!" In years.

I'll disagree. The average consumer pays about 400 for a tablet. iPad Pro is 800. My configuration, at least. 2x the average. People want to see it.

The average auto is 35,000 here in the US. So would you not test drive a 70,000 auto?

You're thinking about it wrong. It's about the premium. People want to know what all the fuss is over premium products, and they engage people they know who have them.

Nobody asks me to drive them around in my xterra. But everyone wants me to drive to lunch in the Benz.

I can only tell you what I've observed. As I said, I haven't seen anyone be wowed and want to play with someone else's iPad in years.

Yes. Because the people I hang out with are the only people on the planet. There is no one else. No one of consequence. Therefore, all people must be like the ones I observe around me.

Was that directed at me? Because I wasn't saying that at all. Just mentioning was I've observed. I never suggested that it was some absolute truth.

Anyway, to address the original issue, I just realized that "Documents 5", my preferred file management app, has a passcode/TouchID option. Doesn't that solve the original issue? Store your private files there without having to depend on the cloud, and lock the app.

I allow it, and have been letting quite a few colleagues try out the Apple Pencil, and they have all walked away feeling very impressed with it. But they mostly are just curious with the pencil, and so stay within apps like Notability and Showme. Most already own iPads in one form or another, and so don't really see the need to explore every nook and cranny of it.

So no privacy issues for me.

I see my iPhone as a more personal device. I'm relatively happy for people to use my iPads. I even let my husband set up a finger print on both of my iPads. My iPhone is private though. I see the iPad as more of a sharing device, whereas my phone is an individual device.

Do your friends test drive your car too?

A couple of my coworkers once asked to borrow my iPad because they needed to record a slow motion video of something they were doing. I do have personal stuff on it but nothing that one would casually come across, and I trusted them not to snoop, so I unlocked it and gave it to them. They recorded the videos that they needed... But also returned it with a bunch of goofy selfies they had taken to make me laugh! I like my coworkers. :D

it's not 5 years ago, no one cares when they see an iPad anymore
