Good Morning - Any news on the iPhone speaker issue caused by Beta 2? Sound still initially coming out of ear speaker rather than the speakers and causes the same to happen on Car play.

C‘mon, You are making confusion :D

It’s not Dark Mode which is a name for system dark mode but what thread tells is about dark icons mode in Customize Home Screen submenu…

True Dark Mode is in Settings > Screen & Brightness

Installed.

Love:
Health app (Finally I can move things around)
Workout app (I can add run times and page, cycle widgets and finally hide trainer tips)
Settings layout
Trainer and vitals widget for the home screen
Maps - Now searching for a city, there is a download option (finally).

Hate:
Control center (too many options - seems bloated - removed so it back to like ios17)
Dark Mode - Looks like I have a mode switched on for eye sight problems (prefer the old style)
Photos - I think the designer was drunk when this app was updated

Bugs:
So far everything works great. The only issue I had was with a pair of Bowers PI5 earbuds. No sound in the left ear. I had to remove and re-add them. Working again.

Mathematical Auto-Complete works in-line while typing in any app now.
RCS is now supported (only text messages (and read indications), no pictures, no reactions) for my German contractor. Error, where auto-generated passwords might not be saved still exists.

I updated to the Beta3 ystday, and Just discovered that i could send RCS Messages today while writing with a colleague Who uses a Samsung phone. I live in Germany, on the o2 network. …Got iPhone 15pm white - 1TB.

Can confirm that for o2. Vodafone is not supported though.

EDIT: ...until September, when iOS 18 is officially released. This is what their support hotline told me.

In the Photos app, you’re no longer forced to full-screen when zooming on a photo, you can zoom in just a little again. This was a HUGE peeve in b1 and b2, really glad they reversed it. 😂

Also, just spotted the emoji keyboard has changed, the keys are much larger.
Yes that was a huge and pointless annoyance. But you still can’t turn off the slide show when in an album.

I have to agree. The Photos app changes are the biggest example of "change for the sake of change" I've ever seen. None of the changes make it easier to use. It's just different, for no real good reason, and requires a lot more swiping around whereas before you had the convenient "tabs" on the bottom.

Right now I'd be ecstatic if Apple abandoned the changes to the Photos app and just kept it the same as iOS 17. There was literally no reason to make these changes.
Totally agree. It’s form over function for no reason. And no consistency. They basically turned it into Instagram.

The summary feature only works on albums and the summarized photos are square, which crop the image too much. There should be a square/normal toggle.
Also, when you click on a photo to view it and, if the photo is vertical, there is a rounded corner and the photo doesn't reach the edge of the display, making it smaller than necessary.
Those sound like valid complaints. Maybe submit feedback if you haven’t already?

I’m really disheartened to hear about the problems with Photos. Based on the Keynote and a couple of articles I read, I was excited about all of the customization options. Just hoping that with all of the feedback from beta testers Apple might be able to address the issues.

I started to. But in order to submit simple feedback the Feedback app requires a full photos app scan before you can send anything. After being so frustrated with the photos app I canceled the scan because it was taking a long time. I’ll try again.

My prediction is that Apple will release the Photos app as is and there will be huge blowback. It will be a Windows Vista (or Windows 8!) moment encapsulated in an app. The kids might love this change but older non-Instagram folks will hate it. This app is a deal-breaker IMHO.

i cant change the app colors / darkmode / tint thing in the newest beta....
iphone 13 mini..

one more thing on the albums... when you open an album, there is a small slide show on top which is niece but it starts by showing the oldest images in sequence. why would u want to see an old image first?
I would randomize the images to show u photos from different times instead of in sequential old-new order.
Another thoughtless thought...
And there’s no way to turn off the slide show.

It seems that apple has added lots of new symbols for modify icon of Shortcuts
but they didn't add any available colors for that

Yeah, I dislike the Photos app changes so much, that alone may keep me on iOS 17 for a while. Not to mention I don't care for Apple Intelligence which is supposed to be a big draw for iOS 18. I suspect it will use a lot of memory and CPU too, which will hurt performance.

The Photos changes just don't make any sense. Like, why is your user icon in the top right corner? It's wasting screen area for no good reason. I already know that I'm logged into iCloud; that's not necessary.

Looking through Apple Music. It seems like some of the icons are slightly different. Also, I heard a rumor that they’re going to be changing the crossfader with a more intelligent auto Crossfade. Does anyone see any evidence of this in the code

I couldn’t agree more. The Photos redesign is pointless busywork that just made the app harder to use.
When you scroll to the bottom of the annoying Photos app you will find a way to customise the contents of the app UX.

It may be of help to reduce the annoyance
😎

Is the parallax 3D effect of the home screen disfunct in iOS18?
I don’t see the icons move when I move my phone. I could have reduced the settings, but at first glance none such is set to avoid it…
