Regarding ads in maps I sent this to Apple: https://www.apple.com/feedback
It's an interesting and heartfelt plea, and I can see your logic.

I think it's fair to point out that: (1) Apple Maps is a Web service, one that requires a sizable investment and infrastructure for Apple to provide; (2) Apple had already given us close to 14 years of free access to this Maps service on all their platforms; and (3) Apple is now attempting to recoup part of that ongoing investment through offering ads on said service.

I agree that the minimalistic, relatively clean UI that was free of ads has been part of the appeal of Apple Maps, and it was likely the reason why many people might have even preferred it over more able options like Google Maps.

Offering ads (hopefully in a privacy-preserving way) on their Maps service ensures that Apple can keep providing the service for free. In an ideal world, perhaps the revenue they make on serving ads could go towards bringing down the cost of their hardware as well...

For all those wanting a fresh start on Apples somewhat wonky keyboard....Go to settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset -> Reset Keyboard Dictionary. This makes a Huuuuuge difference.

No ads in Apple Maps is honestly the only reason I still use it. 🤦‍♂️ The second I upgrade to iOS 26.5, I'm deleting it and switching back to Google Maps/Waze
So you’re going to switch back to a mapping app where the ads are immediately at the top when you open it?

I’ll gladly take the apple iteration, where the ads are at the bottom!

Ads in Maps, Ads in the App Store, Ads in News, this is all the stuff Steve Jobs promised would never happen.
For a company that's worth 3.66 Trillion dollars this is maximum lame.
I hope the users will have the final say in this and start looking for other options, anything other than Apple.

Anyone know if the beta fixes the problem with cloud kit sync? It seems to cause numerous problems across 26.4

So they’ve now sold 2 ‘Must have’ phones to get a new version of Siri yet still have no intention or capability of actually delivering what they’ve sold. Got it.
I truly believe, in order to have AI reasonably deployed to the iPhone, it will need much more hardware than my iPhone 15 Pro Max, or even the iPhone 18 Pro Max. I will wait until at least one iPhone generation, after Apple comes out with a reasonable AI deployment to the iPhone. There are some cumulative updates, which have tempted me to possibly upgrade this fall. I think it is more important to wait until a truly AI optimized iPhone comes out.

How about no ads for those of us who pay a monthly (not cheap) subscription fee for Apple One. Still keeps the revenue flowing from free users, adds another perk to Apple One to perhaps sweeten the deal for people thinking of purchasing, and more importantly maintains some goodwill and good PR around Apple focusing on privacy and user experience.

I definitely agree—Apple One subscribers should be freed of the Apple Ads experience. Hope that Apple takes this into account.

These are typical excuses that help Apple grease up the slide of ******tification. If we allow these ads, they’re going to get worse and more invasive. That’s why we have to push back now before Apple’s income relies on them heavily

Maybe so, but you are going to have to come up with a better argument for Apple than “ads are crap, we hate them’”.

I never said I supported or liked the idea, but this ads on Maps thing is apparently already a done deal for Apple. There is nothing we can do to fight it.

“If we allow these ads, they’re going to get worse and more invasive.”—just what do you plan to do to force Apple to keep Maps ad-free? You can complain to Apple, send scathing feedback and refuse to buy any more Apple products, but is any of that really going to grind the ad machine to a halt?
