This is what confused me, the watch looked huge on that guy, but s/m bands suggest they would fit me (140mm-185mm)

Dd the guy say how big his wrist was? Also, "fit" means it will fit on your wrist and you'll be able to close the straps. It doesn't say anything about how big it will look or whether it will feel comfortable. The only way to know is to try it on in person. If you can't get to an Apple store to try one on, perhaps you should order it from somewhere with a good return policy. Order both sizes and pick which one you want to keep.

One thing to keep in mind is, stainless steel can be polished up whereas aluminum obviously cannot be polished.

He has similar wrists to me and it was loose as it looked like it was for someone with wrists twice the size of him. I assumed "fit" would mean fit comfortably, if you're a size 10 in shoes, size 16s would technically "fit" from that standpoint. Can you tighten the straps a lot and have it still look normal?

Not sure what's so confusing. Just because a strap on the 42mm can be tightened to the maximum doesn't mean the Watch won't look huge on a small wrist.

My wrists are 165mm, and I'm fairly fit at 5'10". That being said, a 38mm still fits my wrist arguably a bit better than a 42mm. For me, though, the extra battery life in the 42mm was the decision maker, as I do 2-3hrs of workouts daily. These can be pretty draining on the Watch.

I will say though - if your wrists are much smaller than 160mm? The 38mm Watch is just going to look and feel better, and activity tracking will be better as well.

What I found confusing was the fact that they seem to vary so much, also the fact that the chart says they come in medium/small and large even though when purchasing it doesn't have this option. My wrists are around 150mm as stated above, I would much prefer the 42mm though, do you feel that it fits well and would also fit well on someone with slightly smaller wrists than yourself?

Also, could you link me to the amazon listing that you said you found an original model with link bracelet for $300?

Fit is more like your example with size 16 shoes for some bands, unfortunately. Examples are Milanese loops and the large sport bands. They fit, you can tighten them up, but the issue is how much overlap you get. If the magnet on the Milanese loop is up against the Watch, it doesn't look great. But with a sport or some leather bands, it's not only ugly, but uncomfortable with the massive overlap.

To circle back to your other question, at 150mm you have pretty slim wrists. That being said, I *think* you could make 42mm work. But it'll definitely be a much larger looking piece on your wrist, and you'll definitely have to overtighten straps for activity use. Link bands may be a tad awkward, but luckily there's a variety of link options out there.

It appears the link models are sold out, but there are plenty of space black options around. Here's one in 42mm refurb for $270: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01M...pace+black&dpPl=1&dpID=31VYN7odt0L&ref=plSrch

Here's a retail 42mm stainless for about the same. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00W...+stainless&dpPl=1&dpID=31WVzfURFuL&ref=plSrch

I think I'll just go for small/medium rubber sport or nylon band in 42mm and just hope for the best, I'll also give the cheaper 3rd party bands a try.

Yeah, it does make it awkward with having such small wrists, just one of my genetic flaws, lmao. That first link is converted to Amazon.co.uk when I click it and is £349, I hate how everything is so much more expensive here in the UK.

Either way, I'll figure it out. Thank you for your time!
