Does anyone know the exact model/vendor that the newly refreshed Mac Book Pro's SSD drives (Both the 128 and 500) are shipping with yet? Getting ready to order a 15" but just want to double check who they are using.

    Regards,
    Shmac

Also interested in the answer. BTW, you mean 256 GB SSD (not 500 GB)?

I meant the 128GB (for the 15" you can only pick 128 or 256).

Is it safe to assume that they are Toshiba's?

    toshiba comes closest to consensus.

either way, it sucks compared to the x25-m.

it would definitely be better than the 5400 rpm HDD, but no. take your $300 and buy an 80 gb intel x25-m on newegg.

apparently even the new mbp's drives are user-serviceable.

Maybe you missed this thread with all these X-25Ms failing.

Are you joking ? SSD is way better than any hdd money can buy, For started theres no moving parts meaning less chances of you hdd from breaking down , ssd make thing way faster, If you can afford ssd buy it , you will love it
