My cost breakdown:
$130 - Series 1 (price mistake by Target)
$8 - Milanese loop band (sale on Amazon)

So do I!

It makes no sense to change it. The only thing that would force them to change would be going to a round model, which I do not (and hope not) think will happen. If they were to change it, they would introduce so many unnecessary reactions in the market. One, people like myself would immediately buy a Series 2 on clearance. Two, the people willing to invest in the very high margin accessories would dry up. And lastly, they may lose a not insignificant number of customers in general. This isn't switching a cable port. The amount of money invested in cables is nothing next to watch bands.

Jonny Ive commented on a round Apple Watch in an article back in 2015:

When a huge part of the function is lists, a circle doesn’t make any sense.”

If there was anything that won't likely happen, it would be a round version. I think diversity is great and many would appreciate a round version, but I don't believe this will be a consideration in Apple's future Apple Watch iterations.

As for the bands, my collection grew quite large ove the last two years. But that's what makes the Apple Watch so unique and the customization is endless with simplicity of the band changing.
