In PC versions of Excel, the Formula bar on excel remains permanently at the top of the screen.

I find this extremely useful, and efficient, rather than what my excel 2008 makes me do now:

click on View and then Formula Builder, and then a pop-up box appears on the screen which is intrusive.

Does anyone know how to make the formula bar appear permanently up there, instead of as a pop-up window and bar?

THANKS!!!

Preferences -> View -> Show Formula Bar

That displays it but does not lock it to the spreadsheet in a manner long time Windows users are accustom to.

I find its behavior so annoying I use VMware Fusion just to run Excel for Windows.
