Hello

I have been trying to plot a simple line graph in excel 2008, using two columns, one with my x values and one with my corresponding Y values. However I cannot do it..it will not let me put the data together but rather has two separate lines for each column...or it will have all points in a straight vertical line...i am really confused on why it is so difficult to make a simple graph

thanks

It depends on your data as to which one will work the best, but ...

1. If both your X and Y are numeric, select both your X and Y data and insert an XY (scatter) chart -- probably either the straight marked scatter or straight lined sccatter.

2. Select only your Y data. Insert your line chart type. In the formatting palette, choose "chart data", then "edit", and enter a reference to the X data in the "category axis labels" box.

Regards,
Nadyne.
