Ok, i'm being cheap and I want to learn Excel & Access to an expert level w/ free interactive tutorials, does anyone have any resources as to where I can find that? :D I already know them on an intermediate basis, but need to bump up the skill level (ie. excel vlookup, hlookup, pivot tables) so I can get a decent Financial Analyst position. Thx y0

hmm just take a laptop go to barnes and noble and yea do it all there for free lol

sorry I dont know of any free tutorials but a book on excel wouldnt cost more than 50 bucks i would think

A good Financial Analyst would spend a few bucks to invest in themselves.

If you're not already using those basic functions like look-ups or pivots, I wouldn't class you as an intermediate. The jump to expert is when you figure out how array formulas work and how to use visual basic to write macros to make your life easier.

If you want to be a financial analyst, you'll also need to understand how all the statistical functionality works (both in Excel and out of it) and you'll probably need a grounding in writing SQL queries and using Business Objects or the like.

A decent Excel book costs about $30. Buy it and use it as a reference - however, I learned more by wanting to do something and then figuring out how to do it using Google to find the answers. It stuck a lot more since I was using it to solve my problems rather than just working through tutorials.
