I'm using Excel again, and I'm a little rusty. I'm using it not only because I don't have iWork, but I'm using it to keep track of my teenage finances. Each line has a date, the total amount of money from all of my funds, the total, and I want a difference column to show the difference between the last entry's total and this entry's total. Sometimes it may be positive, but sometimes negative. I can't remember the function that equates that.

Anyone remember?

Thanks.

Maybe a screen shot visual would help to more clearly define what you are looking for

Suppose your totals are stored in column B. Then in column C, you would have "=B(current row) - B(previous row)" So for example, in C2 you would type "=B2-B1" you can then copy and paste this down the entire C column to do the rest of the entries.

Yeah, that worked, thanks. Originally, I had it show the difference, but in absolute value (ABS formula.) Now it works great.
