The implication is we won't see NFC on the 2013 iPhone either if it's incompatible with the two-tone metal body, as Apple tends to retain the same design for two years?

I'm starting to believe that apple will skip NFC entirely and instead focus on another short-range wireless technology for accomplishing the same thing that NFC accomplishes.

It could be based on bluetooth, or something entirely new.

Or they could just use a combination of GPS, Data, and Time (like the Bump app).

In any case, in it's current form on Android phones, NFC is very imperfect. The antenna is huge, it's insecure, and adoption in the US is less than mediocre at best.

- LTE that isn't even available to most of us.

Oh, but it has aluminum on the back! Wowie!

SMH...
