I am a relatively new user of Final Cut Express 3.5.1 and - to make matters worse - recently added a Sony HD MiniDV camera to our arsenal. When I capture and attempt to edit video from the HD camera, the entire video clip (or clips) needs to be rendered. Often. When I slide a clip around or move it, it need to be rendered. Needless to say, long projects take several hours simply rendering what's in the timeline. Any footage I shoot with the older cam (it's Digital 8/DV format) doesn't need any rendering, other than transitions or effects as expected. Is it something I'm doing or is this simply how Final Cut Express handles HD? I capture my HD footage using 'Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i50'. I capture my regular DV footage using 'Firewire Basic'. Anybody have any ideas? I'm tearing my hair out, so any help would be most appreciated.
