Hello All -

I ordered a 6s for delivery Friday due to the fact that the 6s Plus would have taken an additional 3-4 weeks to ship. I was initially fine with this, but after going to the Apple store and playing around with the 6 Plus, I am almost certain that I would rather prefer the 6s Plus to the 6s (screen size, battery life, etc.).

With speaking with workers at the Apple store in Grand Central, there will definitely be iPhone 6s Plus units available on launch day (in excess of the pre-order units). Does anyone know if it will be possible to "swap" the 6s unit to be delivered to me with a 6s Plus unit on Friday? Note that I ordered the 6s on Apple.com and it is an ATT device (ATT Next plan).

Thank you in advance for the help! I looked through the forums and could not find the answer, so apologies if it has been answered via another thread.

Regards,
Mario

Why don't you prioritize waiting in line, get your 6S Plus, then pickup/have your iPhone 6S delivered and return it to the Apple store afterwards. By waiting for the 6S first you're almost surely not going to find a 6S Plus later in the day/evening.

I agree with spaz. You hold a much better chance with his method since stock may sell out by the time you receive your iPhone in the mail.

There are no SWAPS. You buy what you want. You can return what you want.

There are no SWAPS. Two totally different transactions.

I swapped last release while in line but it was the opposite, a 6 plus for a 6. Point is you never know who in line may have the same problem and want to switch.

Thanks, I don't believe I can purchase a 6S+ prior to receiving my phone as I did so via an ATT upgrade on the ATT next plan. I would need to have the 6s in hand to handle anything related to an exchange / return for a 6S+, correct?

Would heading into my local ATT store be an option?!

Your only chance is if you manage to find a 6s Plus in stock AFTER you receive your 6s in the mail. But I think your chances will be pretty slim to be honest.

If it were me, I would return the 6s and then check store reservation availability every day until you get a reservation for a Plus. I think that will be the fastest and most hassle free way of getting what you want.

Thanks. Can't I simply use the 6s until there is a 6s + available? I live in NYC and I am positive that there will be availability at one of the Apple stores in the city within the 14 day period.

Try to trade with another user on here or on Swappa. So many people last year got a 6 Plus and had buyer's remorse and wanted the smaller size (I was one of these people), I assure you many people will be doing the same thing this year, especially because the 6s Plus is quite a bit heavier than the 6 Plus. It will be fairly easy to swap models, especially if they haven't been opened yet.

I mean, you could wait in line and return your 6s, but I never understood the idea of waiting in line for a product when you can simply order and it receive it launch day if you pre-ordered online. But I know that isn't your situation right now and not entirely relevant.

Patience will go a long way, too — these phones will be readily available everywhere in a month's time.

Upgrade eligibility needs to be reset before swapping.

If you bought it from your carrier then I don't see why they wouldn't take a return at their physical location. It should all come down to whether or not people have claimed the version you want already.

So you're saying you ordered a phone you didn't really want simply because it would take longer to get the one you actually want...... yeah that's weird. No they will not swap it out for you. You'll have to return your 6s and wait or hope there is one in stock (6s+).

I need to do the same. I just got my reservation confirmation and realized I made a mistake. I actually received two confirmations each: 2 for 6s 128GB SG and 2 for 6s+ SG. I need just one 128 GB 6+ gold. ugh

I'm hoping I can do some kind of swap tomorrow.

As an update, I made the switch from an iPhone 6s to an iPhone 6s Plus after one day and I could not be happier with my choice. The 6s was great - perfect size and ran beautifully...but the benefits of the larger screen with better resolution, improved battery life and OIS are well worth the larger footprint. For those that are considering it...just do it!

I originally pre-ordered 6s+ from tmobile, but after two days of miserable experience with such huge phone ( i came from 5s), I went back to t-mobile store and simply return/exchange it for 6s. I am much happier with the phone as I can actually efficiently use it. The 6s+ might be better phone, but 6s is a huge upgrade from 5s. Plus I can actually manage the size, so no matter how good the 6s+ is, it is worthless if I can't use it comfortably :(
