The way i was taught it, was that it came after the numerals. Because the $ sign stands for the word dollars. So you say 1000 dollars, 1000$. Not dollars 1000, $1000.

Sorry for assuming that she new what she was talking about. If it means that much to you i'll go back and edit it for you...

Where were you taught that? Not by an English teacher I hope.

It's correct to write one-thousand dollars, but if you use the currency symbol, it's written $1,000. You can look this up in any style manual. Heck, forget the style manual and just look at an advertisement with a price in it.

Not to worry -- I'm not picking on you. It's just one of my pet peeves escaping from its cage. ;)
