I could care less about redesign. I'd rather see dramatic improvements aka switch to SSD that weren't $$$. I do not like having to shell out $250 for an Intel 160GB SSD, but that is by far the most noticeable improvement I have seen on computers in a while. Incremental steps for the processors are great and all but not mind blowing for me as it was with the SSD.

Specs are stupid at this point. All the cpus are fast enough you wont notice a differance, the majority of people dont do anything graphically that will exceed what the intel graphics can do. What i would be fine with is the exact same computer they currently ship but with flash storage, no dvd drive and a big ass battery.

You might want to check out Apple's MacBook Air. "Everyone should have a notebook this advanced. And now everyone can."

Maybe they implement an Intel SRT that show up with Ivy Bridge with 32 and 64GB mSATA SSD. Those should be rather cheap and due to smart caching and and incredibly big write cache it is almost like working on an all SSD system.
Almost because the small SSDs are never as fast as the big ones. Not enough flash chips. The new SF 2000 mSATA SSD is only as fast as the last generation sandforce 1200 controllers.
But it can be cheap and still much better than an HDD.

I think it's pathetic (early 2011 model at least, and do you really think the 100MHz boosts to the cpus are gonna make it scream now?) because my wife has one and it has increased the speed of workflow only a little bit compared to her late 2006 macbook (that melted itself, also quite pathetic)... that's why ! Just about everything she does on it is only slightly faster... give me a break Apple: 4.5 years later and c2d vs. i5? maybe it's the intel HD 3000 crap-hics? Sorry, really disappointed. A brand new machine shouldn't be waiting around just checking webmail and word processing, it should just friggin do it!

What does your wife DO on her MBP? I run numerous apps and vms and have no cause for complaint at all....and I certainly don't feel it is slow in terms of word processing and checking email!
