They're not going to "fix" something that makes them popular in the print and art community.
Windows is optimized to look good on screen. Macs are optimized to look printer accurate on screen. This is why Macs are so popular with graphic designers...what you see on screen is what you'll get on paper.
It was a deliberate choice. They're not going to change that now. You might as well complain about the fact that their mice don't have multiple buttons.

I get what you are saying and I know why they are doing it. Like I said, this is something that I noticed years ago and have done my research as to why Apple fonts look like this. I actually read that article that you posted years ago. That's why I said that I gave up asking for a change or option.
What I don't understand is why we do not have to option as to how we want font/letters to be displayed on our screens. Using the two button mouse comparison is not valid because, as adamant as Apple is on using a one button mouse, we still have the option to use a two button mouse the way one would want a two button mouse to operate. We do NOT have to option to choose how fonts are displayed on our screens.
I mean if you think about it, who is going to professionally print the itunes library? or a web page in safari, or the text labels in system preferences? Or the exclamation marks in a text message? It is system wide and cannot be changed and that's the problem that I have.
To quote some comments from the link that you posted:
"Id like to see both OS X and Windows allow users to make the choice. I know Im put off using OS X because I find the text hard to read for extended periods and others feel the same about Windows."
"I guess its one of those things where some people will want clarity and others accuracy. Its a shame neither Microsoft or Apple give their users the choice."
"I understand the reasoning, but a web browser seems to be the wrong place for Apple to use it.
Web browsing is an activity you perform on the computer, so fonts (and font-smoothing) that are easy on the eyes when using a computer should be the top priority. I mean, how often are you going to print out a web page and be disappointed that the font-weight is slightly different than you expected?"
I mean really, why do I look at my user name "Allenz" on safari and the two "L's" in my name are completely different. One is thick and blurry and the other is thin and crisp. But then if I look at my user name at work in firefox and both of the small L's are identical.
This is going into me ranting about how I have never liked how OS X (or the iphone) displays text on screens lol, staying on topic tho, the exclamation marks in the text messages are not broken, it's on purpose. Retina hides it a little more but its still there. But trust, if you ever decide to professionally print out those text messages, those exclamation marks will be the best looking exclamation marks you've ever seen printed on paper lol
