I bought Toast 6 thinking Deja Vue (included) would be a real backup system (as was implied). Yes I know, I should have downloaded a trial first.

Unfortunately Deja Vue lacks one of the most important features of backup software - the ability to exclude certain files or folders.

Is there any backup facility inbuilt to OSX?? eg a command line system in terminal??? But whatever it is, I need to be able to exclude files.

Alternatively, do you know of any *cheap* backup programs that do include this feature? (I'm trying to save my money for panther and an external HDD)

thanks

Try Silverkeeper

Chris,

May I suggest Silverkeeper, free from LaCie.

It has an exclude feature (although I've had no need to use it).

I'm using it with an external generic firewire drive.

In all respects I've found Silverkeeper painless to use over the past few months since it was updated to version 1.1 which, judging from its reception, civilized a program that people weren't terribly fond of before. No complaints here.
