Do you know of any brand that does charge while mounted for the car? Obviously it’s a big deal and I’d love to get my hands on one, regardless of brand.
Belkin has one. Mounts to vent. I just installed it yesterday.

That would be really handy for rental car situations!

Just wish it could magically be less bulky in the carry-on.

Anyone know how well any of these magnetic car mounts will do considering the added weight of the new iPhone 13 Pro Max over the 12 Pro Max? The new one weighs .43 ounces more – makes me wonder if the phone will bounce off more easily on bumpy roads.

I’ll let you know friday :)

I recommend the Anker car mount. I don't own a car (I live in Manhattan) but I just used the car mount for a rental car drive from Providence to upper Cape Cod. Works great as far as holding your phone in place. No it will not charge your phone. So I plugged in a USB-A to lightning cable and then I discovered the rental car had CarPlay! ok, now I'm getting off topic....

I got a no-name brand last November via AliExpress (before i could find any elsewhere), and it has worked perfectly for me ever since. Charges fine, stays in the vent, with a good magnet. I’ve only had my iPhone 12 Pro fall twice, and both times were when I knocked it sideways, never because I went over a bump.

There are a ton available now, mostly no-names, but a few well-known brands. My friend just bought this one, and is happy with it.

Thanks for the report. That's great to know!
Day 3, and still holding strong. Funny thing is, after all these years, I keep forgetting to use it when I get in the car. I plug my phone into the lightning cable in the cup holder every time and have to catch myself.
