I there
Im looking out for a cheap external hardrive 160 gigs so i can use it in Time Machine in Leopard with my 17inch iMac. Im living in Canada and Im having trouble finding an OSX compatible hardrive.

Any ideas?

Freecom are compatible. You will probably have to re-format it into HFS+ but it will work and they are reasonably priced. Western Digital aren't very pricey either, and seem to be popular on this forum at least.

Hey,

You should check out CostCo. I just bought a great external HD from Costco for 210$ tax included. It's Maxtor OneTouch 3, 320gb with firewire 400 and is mac compatible. There were other ones varying in size from 120-500gb and all of them were mac compatible. I don't recommend futureshop since they really mark up the prices but they do have a larger selection. I saw the same HD's in both stores and futureshop was 50-120$ more expensive!!

Check this out it's 320gb but for 150$ you won't find a better deal. It's mac compatible but the bad part is that it doesn't have firewire so it'll be a tad slow. This price also seems to be pretty fair.

Western Digital MyBook drives are neat. their power supply doesn't get hot at all (unlike el-cheapo brands), the case is quite attractive and it's really silent because of the sleep mode feature. Other drives I know switch off only when the computer is off (or in standby). since the WD has "sleep mode" built in, it goes to sleep after a few minutes of inactivity and comes back to life when you need it.
If you go for the higher end models they even come in white like your iMac :)
