Exfat not reading on Mac (2tb)

I'm stuck I have around 260gb files on it which I need (2tb drive)

I have another ex drive which I use for Mac time machine which is 1tb and has around 140gb free and my MacBook has around 150gb free too so I was planning on copying and then reformatting but when I copy the files /folder over it crashes freezes the system with no progress of any transfer although the folder file name does show to the location ...

I formated the 2tb drive on a Windows computer to ex fat and I changed the cluster size to a higher number and now I've read since attaching the drive to my MacBook that it needs to be a maximum cluster size of 1024

I do have parallels desktop installed and can read the drive via that but it slow at copying things over and crashes the MacBook

I've tried installing mac fusion and other Windows type software on the Mac that can mount"Windows drive" but it doesn't work and say it's unsupported

Can anyone advise the best way I can view these files on A Mac

Sounds like you will need to use Windows to copy the files from the custom set Exfat drive - real Windows, not a virtual machine.
Connect to a PC running Windows, copy the files off, then reformat that drive without changing settings.
Copy files back in place.
