Yeah, I am happy about being able to move to a smaller notebook for my next go around though. It will be interesting to see what comes of having the (potential for) equivalent to PS5 in Teraflops on Apple's most sold systems will do though.
These aren’t Apples most sold systems. And I doubt they ever will be, considering the price delta to the Air.

But I do believe they will sell well. If I had been in the market for a laptop….. I’m tempted even though I don’t even want a laptop!😀

So the 14" maxed out is just $200 cheaper than the 16"
I love you that apple letting users that love the 14" to have the same specs as the 16", like they do as their iphones pro

I mean more sold than the Mac Pro, lol.

Apple made it simple even with the exterior monitors support
If you only need 1 or 2 external displays...you go with the M1 pro
If you need 3 or 4 you go with the M1 max

I am hoping Apple will use some variant of DDR5 RAM (LPDDR5X...?), because a SoC that integrates CPU cores & GPU cores with a Unified Memory Architecture (UMA) needs all the bandwidth it can get...?
Wouldn't that be a long shot? The A15 uses LPDDR4. At best, the next M chip, hopefully built on the same TSMC node, would use that.
LPDDR5 it is, and that 400GB/s memory bandwidth for the M1 Max...!

MBP 14” comes with 14, 16, 24 or 32 GPU cores. 16” comes with 16, 24 or 32 cores. The memory bandwidth seems to be between Radeon RX 6600 and RTX 3070.

M1 Pro 200 GB/s
M1 Max 400 GB/s

RX 6600 224 GB/s
RX 6600 XT 256 GB/s
RTX 3060 360 GB/s
RX 6700 384 GB/s
RX 6700 XT 384 GB/s
RTX 3060 Ti 448 GB/s
RTX 3070 448 GB/s
RX 6800 512 GB/s
RX 6800 XT 512 GB/s
RX 6900 XT 512 GB/s
RTX 3070 Ti 608,3 GB/s
RTX 3080 760.3 GB/s
RTX 3080 Ti (20 GB) 760.3 GB/s
RTX 3080 Ti (12 GB) 912.4 GB/s
RTX 3090 936.2 GB/s
RTX 3090 Ti 1018 GB/s

M1 Max in a new Mac mini is gonna be a great little 3D / DCC workstation...!

Makes me super excited to see what is in store for the Mac Pro lineup...!!!

Oh yeah, for sure. If I wanted to go desktop again, that would be a perfect little box for my needs. But if the M1 Max in the MBP satisfies, that will be my main machine for years to come, I think.

Wonder is the 400GB/s bandwidth is limited only to 64GB ram, or does it apply to 32GB on the Max config?
