Expected Mid-2009 13" MBP Battery Life

Hi all,
I'm curious how long a Mid-2009 13 MBP (2.26Ghz Core 2 Duo aluminum unibody) should run on a fully charged battery? I just got mine replaced and the system reports it's state as "normal" but I wasn't sure how much run time I should be getting (surfing the web 99% of the time).

The MBP has a Samsung SSD and is running OSX 10.8.5.

They were originally advertised at 7 hours under normal use. Of course results may vary. Upgrading to Mavericks will extend it.

I know Apple stated 7 hours at release...wondering what real world results are/were (I don't remember).

I only have 2 cycles on the new battery, but its only getting 4 - 5 hours of run time while just surfing the web. Only background processes running are Dropbox, Copy, Time Machine, Apple Mail. Chrome is my browser.

I didn't want to upgrade to Mavericks just yet because of some issues with AFP and my Synology NAS.

I have the original battery in my late 2009 MPB (5,3 model). I get about 3-4 hours of surfing on the battery currently. It's only got 68% of its original battery capacity left after 68 cycles.

EDIT - I am thinking of replacing the battery with an aftermarket battery.

Only 68 cycles over a period of 4.7 years. Just curious, have you always used your macbook on a charger?

Huh. I had about 400 cycles on mine before I replaced the battery a few months ago.

Dunno. I charged it when needed for the first few years but then had to leave it on the charger more as it aged, but my usage didn't change. 400 cycles and getting the service battery warning before I replaced it.

Originally my battery lasted 3-4 hours. Now it lasts like 1 hour.

I have a mid 2009 MacBook and also just bought a new battery. I get 2-3 hours of run time while viewing videos. Maybe 4-5 web surfing, probably closer to 4.

My conclusion is I'd have been better off saving the money for a new MacBook, 8-12 hours of run time.

I tried Mavericks and had to bail out, only 2 Megs of Ram here.
