When you get the shipment notice is the expected delivery date always correct. My iPod touch says that it will be here on tuesday. how accurate are those dates? spot on?

Most of the time they are pretty accurate.
If you read the forums here, Apple lies and blatantly lies. Further reading would show that all Apple products are defective. YMMV. 😉
