I hope so too! Apple just sent me and email and I got very excited, until I read the details it was only the gift card :( LOL

It's amazing that you've been using the 2006 MBP for 6 years now!
I had a PISMO PowerBook before that. Used it for 5 yrs. My 2006 MBP will still be used. I'm going to install only what is needed and it should last for another year or two.
I was wanting to get an iMac for the kids so they don't bang on the laptop keyboard and the smears all over the computer. I probably would have bought an iMac during the tax free weekend but I wanted the updated iMac...

It's not amazing, we know how long Apple products can last!

It'a amazing to someone who is going through the transition of windows to mac's ;)

How old are your kids? iMac sounds reasonable, easier to replace a keyboard than the whole MacBook if anything.

Wait for the updated iMac! I wanted a MacBook since last school year, but Apple didn't unveil anything redesigned, and thankfully now I'm getting the Retina :)

2, 4, and 6. I don't really care about the old MBP. The rMBP is mine and they are not allowed to lay a finger on it. May get the iMac for Xmas or next year.

So I finally ordered a 2.6 16GB 256 GB via the apple website with regular shipping.

I tried to call Apple to expedite the shipping method to 2-3 for free and was denied :(

I may have to call tomorrow again to try lol.

What are the approaches you guys did to have this approved, for free?

----------

So I called again to try, the shipping upgrade was approved without any further questions. The representative mentioned that this would only be a one time deal though. Funny thing is what we have to go through just to save $15 on a $2500 computer :)

What a waste of Apple's money if they actually expedite the shipping.

They should ship using USPS so the government can get more money back though :)
Great idea...since USPS doesn’t operate in China. And it isn’t a waste of money when you consider the returns provided by loyalty and word of mouth praise.
