Explain why iPhone 5 is being phased out?

As someone who has dealt with a plastic android, unless apple's plastic is somehow a lot better, I can honestly say that tolerating a plastic phone is harder than you make it sound.
.

As I mentioned above, I currently use an iPhone 3Gs which has a plastic back. It doesn't look or feel cheap, and it's more scratch resistant than the aluminum models.

Who cares if they don't see the iPhone 5? Does it make it less of an iPhone? Did Apple stop updating the OS for it? Sorry people, it's just a phone. I think it makes my iPhone 5 more special because you can't get it anymore.

If you have one, why would you buy another one? If you don't have one, get the 5C or 5S. It's not the end of the world.

A friend of my have my 3G and still works and looks GREAT!!!

The 5 is the 5C with plastic. Better profit margin for customers and cheaper price which is what consumers look for. Price matters.

While I feel my pro retina is the best 13" laptop on the market, I feel Apple has cemented there reputation with anyone tech smart. They are once again going to make a killing selling the same thing all over again to the people sold on a brand name and not the product. I have to admire the marketing, its still unbeatable. Hurry along and get in line if you want that slick 5S, you cant per order it because they want news crews camped out at their stores along with you, absolute genius marketing. P.S. bring an umbrella, lots of cash and a friend so you can rotate in line to go use a charger. Unless your trading in a Droid Maxx HD, that will at least give you 1-2 days of actual battery life as you wait in line, before you get your new iPhone. Lots of great new tech here folks 64 bit processor, an extra, wait for it, LED for your flash and a fingerprint thingy, what coud go wrong there?

Who's with me that they end up with a "Fingergate" similar to "Antennagate" and last years infamous "get lost Google", oh wait our maps dont work, we are sorry, um would you customers mind using a $49.00 GPS app from the app store until we fix this? Lucky for most Google was kind enough to build a free app, welcome back Google. Sad day for me, a company I admired for so long as an innovator has turned into a cash hoarder. Apple please give us some smoking hot Macbooks in October! Dont bother with the iPad, the ability to go totally paperless writing on my samsung galaxy note 8 with just chicken scratch, that it then converts into neat type written notes, that sync with Evernote to my computer, has absolutely won me over on having an actual use for an tablet other than checking email. Remember Steve said no stylus pens, just fingers for his tabby's.

B/C the 5C is essentially the same thing in a plastic body. Who would pick the 5C instead of the more premium feeling 5? It also helps the 5S stand apart from the lineup.

All things being equal, I would take the 5 over the 5c, sure. That being said, I always put my phones in a case and I would bet that once in a case (not a Swiss cheese case), you'd be hard pressed to notice any difference whatsoever.

I have to be honest, I'm a little tired of Apple doing this. I bought the 5 and now it's being phased out. I bought the iPad 3 only to have Apple discontinue it. Pretty annoying and makes me hesitant to pull the trigger again.

Tech products get replaced with newer ones all the time, learn to deal with it. And if you can't then at least be glad that Apple only comes out with a new phone once a year instead of every few months like most other manufacturers.

Higher profit margins for Apple? Sure. Cheaper price for consumers? Nope. It's $99 on contract and $549 off contract. The iPhone 5 would have been at that price point if Apple didn't redo it as the 5C.

Honestly we knew the iphone 5 was getting discontinued. Just for some god only knows reason iPhone 5 owners didn't want it to happen. Does it really matter? The phones will still be supported that's what matters.
