Export movie from iphoto

Hi,

having difficulty exporting my short avi clips from iphoto into imovie - both '08.
imovie automatically recognised some clips but not others - now when i try to export the missing ones (as originals) onto the desktop (so as to import them into imovie) i get the error message that it was unable to do so...??

anyone have the answer to this one?

Not quite sure why you wouldn't be able to export or drag them out onto the Desktop. As far as why some may not import into iMovie, I've found that it works better with .mov, .dv. and .mp4 files so you could use freeware software like MPEG streamclip to convert 'em over or QuickTime Pro would probably allow that conversion as well.
