I've just got a new iMac and have installed Vista Ultimate onto it. I wanted to now how to get my files and programes from my old computer onto it. I have backed up my old computers hard drive onto a portble hard drive, I just need to know how to get the information of it onto the iMac.
Thanks

You're not too clear on what kind of files and programs. I'm assuming that you want to move your files and programs from another Windows machine to Win Vista which you have loaded on your new iMac?

The only files you can move are data files, documents, music files, photos, etc. Programs will have to be reinstalled in order for them to work properly. Since you have an external hard drive, copy those files to the external and then attach it to the iMac when Vista is running. Copy from the external as needed. As for your programs, you'll need the original install media, PIDs, and so forth in order to load them to Vista.

Regards.
