Exporting video/pictures

So I've been playing around with my 4s, and taking a few pictures and videos to get the hang of the camera. Now, how do I get these pictures and videos off of the iPhone and onto my Mac with the promised hi-resolution 1080p that I've heard about?

It's my first iPhone, pardon the newbishness. 😱

wow, macrumors member since 2007 but first iPhone ever... I believe there is an app for that.

Connect via USB and import through iPhoto...or does that method worsen video quality?

I tried using iPhoto and I was fairly underwhelmed by the quality I got. Is there a better way?
