It's all about the MX500 (or 700/900 if you like wireless/bluetooth)--nice shape, buttons out the wazoo, etc.

I'm still a little torn about how to set up the buttons to do everything I want, though, so I wonder if any other MX500 owners have any suggestions.

Since I've started clicking on the dock to bring all windows of an application forward instead of using ASM to force that behavior, I'd rather have the "app switch" button emulate command tab, so I don't have to go all the way down to the dock.

But, I currently had that button set to Expose's all window mode, the down scroll button to all windows from the current app, and the up scroll to show desktop. I probably use show desktop the least, so I maybe I should set it to a corner, or just use the keyboard. I guess I could use the scroll click, but I have that on clicklock now for the occasional times I use it.

How do other people do this?

I also have an MX500 and love it to death! The real power of exposé with multi-button mice is that you can hold the button down to activate and just release to deactivate exposé. Can't do that with hot corners! As for my button set up, I use the forward and back buttons on the mouse as forward and back (just like they were intended), the top fast scroll button is set to command-N to open a new whatever, the bottom fast scroll button is set to command-W to close window, the scroll wheel button is set to activate all window expose, and the application switch button shows the desktop. I wish it had just one more button for app-only expose, but i've got hot corners activated too so it's not a total loss. The open and close window buttons are the cat's meow! I use those the most out of all the buttons.

I also wanted to use the app. switch button for command-tab, but it didn't work out so well. This is because the way panther command tabs, you have to push command tab, then hold down command while pushing tab to scroll through the apps. Works great with the keyboard, but you can't do it with a single mouse button.

I use the bigger thumb button as the F9 function, the smaller one as show desktpo (F11) and click on the scroll wheel for F10

exposé is the best!!! yay for exposé

i find using hot corners the best

but the one thing I like the most about exposé is not the sheer usefulness of it, but the way it animates!!!

i have showed so many of my friends and they are all inching closer and closer to becoming switchers themselves!! yay for me.

on a more serious note though... exposé has to be the most useful thing that came with Panther and was worth the asking price alone...

the biggest boon about the whole thig is the way you can, while writing an email, hit a corner, see desktop, grab something, hit the corner again, drop it in an email and there you go, without having the mess around moving windows aroung the screen... it requires no wait...

I have run out of superlatives for exposé in the real world and can't even express them in writing... it is just so fantastic it makes me want to shout about it...
