anyone else have expresscard slot loading problems on their late '08 macbook pros? i have several different cards and most are a pretty tight fit. one card even slips in past the edge of the laptop and gets stuck. my sister has another late 08 macbook pro and the cards fit fine.

i tried playing with different mbps at the apple store today and they all feel pretty damn tight. they said that they will make a note for applecare to exchange the laptop out. that however requires ordering a new one. hopefully i'll get a new one with fewer problems than the one i have now. some junk on the bezel from the manufacturing process...

got the replacement back fairly quickly, but with dust and a stuck pixel. guess or hope it goes back a second time. maybe with my luck, i should be waiting for the next generation.

just one question, how do you make to take those macroshots of the dust particle and the stuck pixel?

praise all you brave (or stupid :) ) people for adopting the first GENs.

personally, Ill let you all sort it out for 6 months :)

This is to be expected, and its just something early adopters will have to cope with. A lot of people whine and complain about "not getting a perfect machine," but lets face it, its a totally new design, kinks are to be expected
:p

well when your sister and two other buddies get perfect new macbook pros and you get two messed up ones in a row, its kind of a bummer. in fact i could have lived with the first one with resin droplets and a misaligned expresscard, but i was advised by people at the apple store as well as people from apple care to just get it replaced. i even stated that i was afraid of getting another one with an even more annoying problem, specifically DEAD PIXELS! but they said not to worry and if it i'm not happy with the next one, send it back as i have.

another concern is the resell value. anyone know how much a dead pixel affects value? or minor manufacturing problems that will probably not affect later adopters?

and in terms of owning a "perfect" machine, that's almost completely apple's fault for making them such precious machines. we've all seen the commercials and we all buy into the idea of owning such precious objects, but if they are going to be precious, they best be damn perfect.
