the access points are not optimally placed (for me). need to get close to the apartment door to get a good reception. if there is only a way to extend the signal from the apartment door to my table about 5 ft...
a wlan extender will do the trick. you have to position it close as possible to the e.g. door in your department and just book it into the building wlan. This will require configure the WLan extender (network selection, password, etc.) - usually by connecting to it by ethernet cable once.
