Anyone know or seen any chance that we’ll get an extended desktop with iPad os ? Be great when hooked up to monitor to show different apps on the monitor than on the iPad. I’m trying to make IPad my only device and ditch the MacBook Pro. So far I can do almost everything I need but this extended desktop would be a real bonus.

Yup, this is coming in macOS Catalina in the next month or two

The OP wants to use iPadOS with an external display and ditch the MacBook Pro so I'm not sure how sidecar will help with that.

OP, so far there don't seem to be hints of this but Apple has been aggressively addressing the multitasking situation with iPad OS so it wouldn't surprise me one way or the other if something like this comes up in a future version of iPadOS.

Oops, sorry completely misread that.

Agree with @hlfway2anywhere that it is likely to come up in a future version, given that if you do have an external display connected, iPad OS lets the app show different things in each display.

Looking forward to this feature as well.

The current iPadOS is great running with mouse and keyboard, and Safari on iOS is wickedly fast. Except for certain use cases, my iPad is the device of choice now even on my desk.

An extended desktop would be great. Mirroring is kind of clunky with a lot of wasted space. If more apps supported an external monitor like iMovie does that would also help.
