I'm pretty sure this has been asked before but please be patient with me.

I'm thinking of getting a Time Machine 1T since the price dropped but I wanted to know if I can extend my network with using my (kinda new) Airport Express or do I have to swap them and make the TM as the main server (not a techie so I dont know how to call it) and then use the Airport Express to extend the network. Or, I do have an old Linksys Wifi router, can I use the Linksys as my main router then use the TM to extend the network? The reason being is that I live in a tropical country and the main server isn't in my room (usually AC'd) and so I want to keep the TC in my room and not risk overheating it.

I'm curious how you would accomplish in making the Airport Express into a router. It's breadth of function is to extend the signal and provide AirTunes.

Why don't you try using your Linksys as your main gateway to the net; have the TM route to that and the Express extend the signal even further.
