I was really excited when Safari 5 was released - mainly for three reasons: the horrid memory leaks from Safari 4 apparently had been fixed, the introduction of extensions, and the re-introduction of the blue loading bar.
There are already quite a few extensions available, but I currently only find two of them useful: AdBlock and The Invisible Status Bar.
Well, to put it short, if I have the extensions enabled, my Safari will take up 500-700 MB RAM before long (esp. when having lots of tabs open). Twice or so it even went up to 1.1 GB (!!). Moreover, having enabled extensions has also affected Safari's initial startup time. It used to open on one bounce, but now it takes four bounces on average (sometimes even a couple more). Yeah I know the latter may not be of vital importance to you, but it is to me, as I've always valued Safari's snappiness.
I tried disabling the Extensions bar today and the MEM usage pretty much stayed at 300-some MB RAM throughout the day, which is very reasonable. Also, Safari opened up quickly on the fresh start.
I'm pretty disappointed to be honest. I wish it would stay between 300-400 MB RAM with extensions enabled, too. Meh. Does anyone else experience the above-mentioned problems?
