Wow

So many angry and bitter folk in here. Unf***nbelievable. I myself often don't agree with a lot of the things posted or mentioned in a lot of these threads, but I don't go out of my way to insult and attempt to discredit anyone. I understand we all have an opinion, but some of you are TOO MUCH. Especially the ones who LOVE, LOVE, LOVE being the first one to scream 'pics, or it didn't happen!'. Gimme a break. The OP created this thread for those who give a damn. If you don't, and this thread didn't satisfy your curiosities, just move along. Had the OP posted pictures of low quality, you'd be complaining about that as well. So there's no making a lot of you happy

The OP suggests he performed 'extensive' tests. He didn't. The information is not useful. If you find it helpful then fine, but I'm allowed to give my opinion.

Intentionally scratching your phone is still f'd up. If you want to do some research, pay full price for a phone and scratch away. You remind me of the guy who posted about his smashed screen who was wondering whether he could buy some insurance coverage to be able to make a claim after the fact. Despicable.

Lets compare the two scenarios, since you clearly don't have common sense

Your example
a) Guy has broken phone, tries to purchase insurance after the fact to cover a phone already out of warranty = Insurance fraud

My example

b) I called apple, explained to them the situation, they told me to go into my local store and get it replaced, or just get a refund ( I was within my 30 days)

If I had just gone into the apple store without doing my test apple would:
a) Refurbish the phone by replacing the aluminum casing, and front and rear glass

Since all I did was put some scratches on the phone apple had to:
a) Refurbish the phone by replacing the aluminum casing, and front and rear glass

I caused no additional labor/ no additional parts used/ no additional cost to anyone at apple.

Once again can someone please tell me how adding blurry cell phone pictures would have made my testing "more extensive" ?

Caliber26 you are cool

the rest of you guys can get back to circle jerking each other off about useless crap speculation and whining about everything

I'll tell you how. Because I did the same scratch tests to my iPhones and do you want to hear my discoveries? I discovered that my iPhone 3g ripped a whole through the entire phone, my iPhone 3GS actually shaved off 24 ct gold when I scratched the screen, and my iPhone 4 was a scratch 'n sniff...

I promise

What you don't believe me? You want pictures? How would that change anything, it still happened!

Now, clearly I'm being facetious here, but that is the point that everyone is getting at. It's not that people don't trust you at your word, but you don't exactly have a well know reputation for conducting iphone scientific experiments and people just like to be able to visually see the scientific proof for themselves. Especially for such an "extensively documented scientific experiment", without pictures it makes it seem incomplete.

So you can't really be mad at people for wanting to see the proof. That doesn't give them a reason to be rude about it though. Just try with the iPhone 4. It takes pretty decent pics especially when you use the tap to focus on the scratch. It can't hurt right?

So why would this be wasteland, everything I posted was true + provided evidence I wasn't making the story up. Not all of us have the privilege of owning a separate digital camera.

weeks after posting my results people have started finding out my conclusions were right

It's not that the iPhone 4 scratches easier, it's that the screen quality is so good, that scratches show up/distort the screen easier

I agree with that, I have a screen protector and a hairline scratch on it shows up rainbowy on a white screen.

omg thank you

can you possibly take a picture

not sure why people think i would make this stuff up, not a troll, and have nothing to gain other than trying to stop the dissemination of false information

sometimes these forums don't make sense, people would rather argue/complain/speculate with false/made up information, instead of actually discussing the facts or findings people have found

You can't take pics of scratches with any iPhone... You would need a macro to do it right... I believe the op's findings... But it's funny how he flip flopped from just a phone to putting on a shield

ah yeah thats because cleaning the fingerprints was driving me mad , on the other iphones, it did not bother me since the resolution was lower.

you should check out this thread

Basically I discovered that if you Have an SGP oleophobic shield + apply a layer of NXT 2.0 wax, its fingerprint proof and the fingerprints wipe away easier

I tried wax on a naked iPhone before and it doesn't work as well ( i think it has something to do with the coating, or because glass doesn't hold on to the wax as well)

ItsJustafnPhone, I would like to thank you for this thread. I found it interesting.

Some people around here can't seem to believe anything without a picture. A picture isn't always required. It's not like he claimed that his iPhone cam with a built in laser weapon, that would be something he needed a picture for. All he did was share the results of something he tried, he didn't try to claim a droid was better then an iPhone or vice versa, all he did was share his results testing between iPhones, his results seem pretty much in line with what Apple claimed.

He also never claimed these were scientific, controlled experiments. He doesn't need to prove anything, just share his results. If you don't like or believe the results then ignore this thread, there is no reason anyone here is obligated to comment.
