I use daily sandisk ssd extreme 1 tb with usb-c. In the box you can find a good adapter to use it with laptop with normal usb.

thanks, does this work on the ipad pro with usbc? i currently have a usb3 enclosure but the ipad wont detect itI would recommend this enclosure.

Something to be aware of - these drives usually come formatted as exFAT and there are issues with file corruption on exFAT external storage with the Files app -

If you have an Apple laptop or desktop, you should consider reformatting the drive as APFS or HFS+.

Prior iOS14 does not recognize a external encrypted SSD. I guess iOS 14 was supposed to address that. Just in case your on iOS 13 and the disk is encrypted. I am still going to keep using 13 till the 14.2 update.
