External Aerial?

Can someone confirm that an old cone shaped AEBS will take an external aerial? will it do WDS as well?
I want to run a cable through my wall put an external aerial on my wall and send a signal to a Airport Express at the bottom of my garden so i can stream music to it. Just investigating different ways. Wonder if this would be best?
If it does take an external cable is it a standard connector? and will it act as a base station for a WDS setup?
