i would like to run windows off of an external 3.0 hard drive through bootcamp. is this possible? mainly for playing games, and i dont really want to lose and of the already samll 256 ssd in my rmb

Yes its possible. Don't expect great performance. Partition your drive to a bootable format with Disk Utility.

why bad performance? Don't games run fine off an external drive? Especially since it's a usb 3.0

ok, but how do i make it bootable? as in install windows on it?

tried both way (cloning the drive/install directly), i just got a blinking cursor while booting off..at the moment seems not possible. :(

have you tried partitioning it through bootcamp and installing it on the external? dont know if its possible because i havent recieved my macbook yet
