hi everyone,
i use an old imac 400 to surf the net. the dvd drive does not work proper and i can´t install anything from a cd-rom. how can i read cd-roms or even dvd´s from an external drive? better: how can i make an external fw cd-rom-drive(burner) to my main?

sorry for this nubee questions!!!!

In your head.
Run OS X, Tiger should work.
Connect an external drive.- link to Laci clearnce corner.
That's it.

Anybody can correct me if I am wrong.

Older QPS Que drives also work, and are USB- slow but ok for CDs. Not all have drivers for OS 10.4. For DVD/combo your limited to FW400 for through put.

As for upgrade, try This Old Mac
